Who is Wakana?
Born in Japan, soprano Wakana Gong studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and is now studying with Marie Vassiliou in London and taking regular lessons with Ubaldo Fabbri in Italy.
Wakana’s operatic engagements include Susanna, Le nozze di Figaro at Complesso Monumentale di San Pietro, Marsala, Sicily, Adina (cover), L'elisir d'amore at Varna State Opera, Bulgaria, Belinda (cover), Dido and Aeneas with Blackheath Opera (UK).
In scenes, she performed Amina, La sonnambula, Cleopatra, Giulio Cesare at Montefeltro Festival (Italy) and Iphigenie, Iphigénie en Aulide, Carolina, Il matrimonio segreto, Papagena, Die Zauberflöte, Serpetta, La finta giardiniera with Trinity Opera Scenes (UK). She also performed Cugina, Madama Butterfly at Cadogan Hall and made several appearances in Opera de Baugé’s France and London performances.
She has participated in masterclasses both in UK and other parts of Europe with Sumi Jo, Thomas Quasthoff, Sonia Ganassi and Louise Winter.
Keen recitalist, Wakana energetically expends her song repertoires and performed in Schubert Festival (2015) and Debussy Festival (2018). Recent engagements include recitals at Santarcangelo Summer Festival, Southwark Cathedral, St. James's Paddington, Faversham Assembly Rooms and Waltham Abbey.
